It is highly unlikely that one would have to work with files which size requires 64 bit (greater than impossible to imagine several gigabytes).
It's only practical difference is the ability to work with HUGE files without running out of memory.

64-bit Windows can run 32 bit applications just fine. 64-bit version, for all practical reasons, is not any faster or better than 32 bit version.
